Can I Get More Than One Facelift?

An older woman's face with lines showing where a facelift could be performed to enhance her appearance.

Many patients undergo facelift surgery at Noses and Necks New York in order to rejuvenate their appearance and achieve a more youthful look. Facelifts tighten sagging skin, smooth deep wrinkles, and enhance facial contours, particularly in the jawline and cheeks. Dr. Anil Shah’s cutting-edge 5 Layer Facelift is tailored to each patient's unique anatomy to ensure optimal results.

So the question is- Can we only get one facelift in our lifetimes or are we able to undergo multiple facelift procedures safely? Would a second facelift procedure look the same as a primary facelift? In this video, Dr. Shah explains the ultimate goal of a facelift, whether or not you can undergo multiple facelift procedures, and how a first time facelift may differ from a second or third facelift.

Dr. Shah:

So the question is, can you do another facelift after you've had another facelift? And the answer is you can kind of have unlimited facelifts, but that's not really the goal. The goal is for you to do a facelift or neck lift and do it and then hopefully not have to do it for ten, hopefully 15 years. Hoping more. And so that you don't have to revisit that.

The other goal, which is when you, if you repeat that, is that your procedure might not be as invasive as the first time. And so that's kind of the goal. Now theoretically, if you had your facelift done with someone, you have a lot of skin laxity and someone removed a little skin and they removed a little skin and you could keep doing that as long as you don't overly stretch the skin. But that's not really what a face and neck lift is. A face and neck lift is lifting the deeper tissues and then all that extra skin which comes with it. So in theory, you can have unlimited face and neck lifts as long as your blood supply and you're not overstretching the skin. In reality, a properly done face and neck lift, most patients do this once or twice in their lifetime.
