Buccal - 2 Weeks Pre Op
In preparation of your upcoming surgery in 2 weeks, please review the following instructions carefully.

Stop all blood thinner medications. This includes all medications and over the counter supplements. Common blood thinners include: Advil, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Fish Oil, Ginseng, Glucosamine.
Call the office if you have any questions about a medication you are taking.

Ideally, stop all tobacco use. Smoking can increase your chance of complications during surgery. This includes: higher risk of infection, high risk of blood supply issues, can compromise anesthesia, and can dramatically delay your healing process.

Please make sure you arrange a ride for after your procedure. You will be receiving medications prior to your procedure, and you will not be allowed to drive yourself home that day.
* Below is a list of materials you'll want to gather before the procedure:
- Ice/frozen peas
- Exam gloves (for icing technique)
- Antiseptic Mouthwash
We will review what to do with these materials on the day of your procedure.

Continue to avoid all blood thinner medications and herbal supplements.
This includes all medications and over the counter supplements. Common blood thinners include: Advil, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Fish Oil, Ginseng, Glucosamine.
Call the office if you have any questions about a medication you are taking.

Avoid alcohol consumption- alcohol is considered a blood thinner.
*Don't forget to gather the materials listed below:
- Ice/frozen peas
- Exam gloves (for icing technique)
- Antiseptic Mouthwash
- Prepare soft foods. You will need to avoid sharp foods like chips after the procedure.

Your surgery is just 2 days away! Below are a few more reminders and a video link reminder to help you further prepare.
Pre-Op Instructions - 2 days pre op

Continue to avoid blood thinner medications, herbal supplements, and alcohol.

Start avoiding caffeine today until 2 days after your surgery.

Please be aware of your check-in time for your procedure. You will need 1 hour prior to the procedure to get relaxed. Feel free to bring headphones or a book to enjoy while you are relaxing.

Make sure your ride is arranged with a family member or friend. Remember you won't be able to drive yourself after the procedure.

Please eat breakfast or lunch on the day of your surgery. You will be receiving medications and it is better to have food in your stomach to avoid nausea.

Don't forget to have your ice ready and soft food prepared for your recovery.

You will need to sleep elevated after the procedure (use at least 2 pillows) to help reduce swelling.
Buccal - 1 Day Post Op

Here are some post op reminders for your recovery:

Avoid caffeine for one more day.

Avoid alcohol for the next week.

Avoid blood thinners for two more weeks.

Continue to avoid sharp food and acidic foods. The sutures in your mouth will dissolve on their own.

Use the antiseptic mouthwash 2-3 times a day to keep the incisions clean.

Continue to apply ice to your cheeks for the next 3 days. We recommend icing 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off.

Swelling can last 3-7 days. Ice consistently and make sure to sleep elevated for the next few nights.

Take the pain medication as needed. Try to switch to Tylenol Extra Strength if you are experiencing only mild pain.
